Ministry of Hair has been established since May 1997. Toby Meyer, the Salon owner had the idea that having your hair cut was not enough and people deserved a hairdressing experience.

The 'Salon' concept was for the client to come into a modern environment and feel as comfortable as possible incorporating all the latest entertainment, furniture, fixtures, fittings and Salon equipment. There also had to be a full range of refreshments and for everyone to receive the optimum in client care from the minute they walked in the door or made contact on the telephone. The product range had to shout from the shop front and speak for itself inside the Salon, with Redken and Paul Mitchell being the chosen hair  care products.

The stylists, at all levels, needed to have a high level of knowledge and experience to match the desired concept, with all members of staff having a warm friendly manner at all times. Toby feels he has achieved this with a fantastic team around him and also having continuity of staff, all of which have a love of the industry they are part of.  With the stylists’ wealth of experience we cover all aspects of hairdressing, from creating the latest hair styles for ladies and gents, with techniques such as colour, perming, hair extensions, straightening, cutting and blow drying to create the perfect look for bridal hair and hair-ups for that special occasion.

After eight successful years, The Ministry of Hair Salon had a refurbishment in April 2005 to carry the concept into the next decade. The lastest expansion in 2010 came at the same time Ministry of Hair took over Strands Hair Co in South Street. Whilst Strands Hair Co has been trading for nearly 20 years and in the ownership of Toby for the last 10 years it was Toby's thought, the two salons would have more potential for growth and be stronger as one brand, explaining the merger of two great salons to make one fantastic salon. This meant taking over another floor in the building where Ministry of Hair is based. We now have three floors of Hairdressing with 17 stations and 30 great guys working in one place, this makes us the biggest and we hope the best independant salon in the area. Toby and the team wish to thank all existing clients for their custom and welcome new guests to the Salon.
